River North Correctional Center Opening

What: Following a brief outdoor ceremony, officials will cut the ribbon to the new correctional facility, which inmates will start moving into on October 7. Media are invited to cover the ceremony and ribbon cutting and speak with VADOC officials. This is an outdoor event, not a facility tour; recording devices will not be allowed inside the facility. †
Why: River North Correctional Center opens as the VADOCís first new facility since 2007, bringing hundreds of new jobs to the area. River North, led by Warden Ben Wright, will open as a Security Level IV facility and will house around 1000 offenders. Footage of the interior of the facility is available for use by media here:
