Corrections Officers
Corrections officers ensure public safety by maintaining custody and control of inmates, following policies and procedures. They use evidence-based practices and communication strategies as part of multi-disciplinary teams. Officers provide security for adult inmates in the facility and during transport, supervise daily activities, and observe and record inmate behavior to ensure their safe and secure confinement.
Qualification
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age (with certain exceptions).
- A valid driver’s license is necessary.
- Must be legally eligible to possess a firearm within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Successful completion of medical screening, background check, and drug testing is required.
