The Virginia Model
The Virginia Model is transforming how we approach corrections—and it’s gaining momentum. After a successful launch at Lawrenceville Correctional Center in August 2024, three more facilities have joined this innovative initiative: Buckingham Correctional Center, Dillwyn Correctional Center, and Greensville Correctional Center, Cluster 1.
More than just a program, The Virginia Model is a forward-thinking philosophy rooted in two core beliefs: that incarcerated individuals can make meaningful choices, and that behavior should guide opportunity. By pairing positive incentives with fair, consistent accountability, this model promotes safety, personal growth, and a more respectful environment for everyone.
This change matters—not just behind the walls, but in our communities. A more effective, humane correctional system helps people return home stronger and more prepared to succeed.
