  • Description

    The Peer Mentor is a mature member of the inmate population who consistently role models pro-social thinking and behavior. The purpose of their presence within the institution is to disrupt criminal logic when engaging with other inmates and role model “right living”.

  • Eligibility

    Typically serving a long-term sentence of at least 20 years, priority given to inmates with life or lengthy sentences. No institutional charges for the past two years. Must comply with grooming and bed standards. Must role model pro-social thinking and behavior. Must demonstrate leadership skills according to program structure and staff guidance. Must display empathy towards group members. Must demonstrate effective written and strong verbal communications skills. Must be able to facilitate groups. Must hold peers accountable for actions. Must be approved by staff to be a peer mentor.
