VADOC Selects Armor Correctional Health Services for Interim Offender Health Care Services
July 08, 2014
RICHMOND — The Virginia Department of Corrections has completed an emergency procurement process to find a new, interim health care services provider for incarcerated offenders. The Department (VADOC) has entered into an agreement with Armor Correctional Health Services, Inc. for the provision of health care services starting October 1, 2014.
The VADOC received notice on June 2 from its current health care services provider, Corizon Health, Inc., that the provider was terminating its contract with the Department effective 120 days following notice. The VADOC contract with Corizon has been in place since May, 2013.
Armor, based in Miami, Florida, will provide health care services for around 15,000 offenders at 17 VADOC facilities until a long-term health care services contract is accomplished following a standard Request for Proposals (RFP) procurement process.
