VADOC Offender Apprehended After Walking Off Worksite In Burkeville

RICHMOND — A male offender in the custody of the Virginia Department of Corrections who walked away from a work unit yesterday has been apprehended.
Offender Jason Michael Day was caught at approximately 3:30 p.m. today in Nottoway County. He was apprehended by the VADOC tactical team after an extensive effort involving multiple law enforcement entities, including the VADOC Fugitive Unit, the Prince Edward County Sheriff's Department, the Nottoway County Sheriff's Department, the Norfolk Southern Railroad Police, the Virginia State Police, the VADOC Canine Unit, the VADOC Special Operations Unit, and VADOC correctional officers from multiple facilities.
Day, assigned to Nottoway Work Center in Burkeville, Virginia, walked away from a greenhouse work unit Monday at approximately 10:00 a.m.
